Tamela Lucus: As you write don’t worry about the errors. Just write freely. Figure out everything later.
Romelia: HOW MANY HOURS A DAY DO YOU WRITE?
Tamela Lucus: All day. I love to write.
Romelia: WHEN YOU ARE WRITING AN EMOTIONAL OR DIFFICULT SCENE, HOW DO SET THE MOOD?
Tamela Lucus: It has been very quiet for me concentrate when I write.
Romelia: WHOM DO YOU TRUST FOR OBJECTIVE AND CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM OF YOUR WORK?
Tamela Lucus: My sister’s and brother’s provide the best feedback.
Romelia: HOW DID YOU BECOME INVOLVED WITH THE SUBJECT OR THEME OF YOUR BOOK?
Tamela Lucus: My first book is about my mother. I wrote about my personal experience, from a child’s point of view.
Romelia: WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WRITE IN YOUR PARTICULAR FIELD OR GENRE? IF YOU WRITE MORE THAN ONE, HOW DO YOU BALANCE THEM?
Tamela Lucus: I wanted to help Christian women, who are in bad or abusive marriages. I want my children to know about their grandmother, because they never had the opportunity to meet her.
Romelia: WHAT CULTURAL VALUE DO YOU SEE IN WRITING?
Romelia: HOW DOES YOUR BOOK RELATE TO YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE OR OTHER LIFE PATH?
Tamela Lucus: Most women are trained to obey (or be submissive) to their husbands. While most men are allowed to do whatever they want.
Romelia: WHAT WERE YOUR GOALS AND INTENTIONS IN THIS BOOK, AND HOW WELL DO YOU FEEL YOU ACHIEVED THEM?
Tamela Lucus: My goal was to tell my mom’s story. I feel that I did a good job based on how I remember it.

Tamela Lucus: Throughout my life I have met women that were in abusive relationships. I try to warn them with encouragement. I even suggested them to watch the original Sparkle movie.

Tamela Lucus: News articles and news feed of women who have lost their life to abusers.

Tamela Lucus: Real life experiences.
Romelia: WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART OF WRITING THIS BOOK?
Tamela Lucus: Protection of love ones. I didn’t use real people names. I also, listed my book as fiction, to protect family members.
Romelia: ARE THERE VOCABULARY WORDS OR CONCEPTS IN YOUR BOOK THAT MAY BE NEW TO READERS? DEFONE SOME OF THOSE.
Tamela Lucus: I used Native American (Indigenous people)names. Each name represented the character personality.
Romelia: ARE THERE UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS OR IDEAS FEATURED IN YOUR BOOK? IF SO, DISCUSS THEM.
Tamela Lucus: Abusive women that go to church are taught to stay in abusive surroundings. For a while Christian’s are told to give the other cheek while being abuse. Even Jesus, walked away from confusion.
Romelia: ARE THERE MISCONCEPTIONS THAT PEOPLE HAVE ABOUT YOUR BOOK? IF SO, EXPLAIN.
Tamela Lucus: I don’t know because everyone that has read it, likes it. Maybe the title doesn’t give it the justice that it needs.
Romelia: WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOUR SUBJETC/GENRE, THAT THEY NEED TO KNOW?
Tamela Lucus: The title doesn’t pop or grab people’s attention. My goal is to repackage the cover.
Romelia: WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Tamela Lucus: Prevention. If I can help somebody to avoid hurt. That’s what I want to do.
Romelia: HOW DID YOU GET TO BE WHERE YOU ARE IN YOUR LIFE TODAY?
Tamela Lucus: As a child, I have always wrote every thing down. I also wrote in my diary. I was a church secretary. One day one of my former pastors said, ”Write your book”. I was encourage to write and publish my book.

Tamela Lucus: Understanding authors compassion to tell a story, is most useful. Least useful is to not have a strategy.

Tamela Lucus: I’m a part-time writer with full time thoughts. I love researching and learning something new all of the time. I’m always thinking about the next project.
